So I know this is a little late to review, but I really didn't want to rush the review before I'd got at least 50% through the game, also this is going to give away nothing about the story but just a basic outline of what the game entails and my own rating!
Tecmo Koei did what they do best and made the game really influenced by Japanese history and included many traditional Japanese elements throughout the game. It follows in the footsteps of Monster Hunter where you play in time-based missions, however Toukiden throws a far more detailed story your way unlike the Monster Hunter series.
You play as a 'slayer' protecting the village Utakata from demons 'Oni' you then build up relationships with many of the towns people by doing various requests (normally finding items from the story-mode/slaying a specific enemy).
There are 6 different types of weapon you can use; long sword, twin blade - my personal favourite, spear, gauntlets, kusarigama and a bow. The reason my favourite is the twin blade is because it's the fastest and I really cannot stand slow paced games. Luckily you can switch and change your weapon whenever you feel like it as there is no class system within the game, this game has very little restrictions when it comes to weapons, you can upgrade and buy weapons from one blacksmith next door to your house...handy!
In your house you can change your weapons, armor, hair colour/style, read letters from in-game friends and store items in your storage box. As well as sending Tenko out and about...see further!
The bit I love about this game is that you get Mitama souls which you can equip and level up, these get more advance the further you progress through the game, basically the more bosses you kill the more Mitama you receive!
And not only this but you can activate boosts by donating at the two shrines, so if you want you make your missions a bit easier just activate one of these before you head out!

So the basic aim of the game is you follow a series of quests which lead you through the entire story, this leads you onto meeting various characters who can assist you in missions. I was really surprised with how good the A.I was in this game, they really do help out in battle and you don't need to spend too much time worrying about how well they're doing. However if you don't fancy using the in-game characters you can playthrough the story online with friends or various other Toukiden players!
That is my round up of the game and I just can't seem to get enough!
I'd like some people to play online with so add my PSN 'Aimseed' and let's get slaying!
