Richard & Alice are both prisoners with secrets, this point and click adventure is brought to you by indie duo Owl Cave...*
Richard & Alice is essentially a game to tell a story, it's more like an interactive picture book.
So as said before the game evolves around two prisoners who cells happen to be opposite each other, and during their time in prison there is some kind of pre-apocalyptic storm outside. The outside has broken down due to the weather and government issues.
So they get to talking, as you would do, I mean it'd get pretty lonely up in prison right? And Richard wants to know more about Alice (her story is mainly shown in flash backs). I don't want to go into the story too much, but Alice has a son Barney, who is a brilliant character and you help them out of many sticky situations. And as both characters to learn more about the other you kind of fall in love with them both, you get really involved in their stories.
May have had a little cry in stages...a game hasn't made me feel this emotional since Telltales The Walking Dead.
The game has multiple endings, so I definitely recommend to at least play through it twice. You wouldn't notice that your 'choices' help vary the ending, as it's a pretty linear game, but it really does! I only found this out when reading up on the game from another review.
The way the game looks is a bit hit and miss for me, I like the way the characters move - although a little jittery at points. However I didn't really think much of the backgrounds, but with little info on the game this could have been the creators intention to make it as simplistic at possible.
This game is definitely a hit if you want an incredible story to immerse yourself in!
