PS4's most anticipated exclusive since the launch, with some of the best console graphics and voice acting to boot. Spray cans, denim and Troy Baker - oh it must be inFAMOUS Second Son!
I really enjoyed the second inFAMOUS game but I always felt that it was maybe too 'serious' especially after games like Saints Row IV showed the sillier side of this theme of an open world sandbox game. So I was pleasantly surprised when the first playable scene of this game was spraying some graffiti on a wall. However this soon took a turn into seriousness when choosing to be a 'hero' or 'villain' - there is no way I could ever do my first play-through as a villain that just isn't me at all!
You play as Delsin Rowe a rebellious youth, who never really sees eye to eye with his brother Reggie, until an unfortunate incident changes the rest of their lives forever. Now the main the villain of the story really is a horrible creature - I haven't instantly hated a 'bad guy' character within a game in a long time, but inFAMOUS made me want to hit my TV.
Without ruining any of the story I want to use this review to emphasise that the story is incredible, it has it's fair share of emotion, from happy times to almost tear jerking moments. But this could not be made possible without a fine voice acting cast. Delsin steals the show - which is predictable as Troy Baker is a fine voice actor.
As well as the main story you have many scattered missions and DUP enemy forces you can overtake. My favourite part of this game is going around and finding the graffiti points - some of them are masterpieces, I'm going to be keeping my eyes peeled for these to make their way onto t-shirts!
Now lets talk about the way this game looks, we were all worried it wouldn't look top notch on the PS4 but it proved many of us wrong. These are possibly the best graphics I've seen on a console game so far, I was completely blown away.
Just like the previous games it is open world, but this world just sucks you right in with the shadow work, lighting, literally EVERYTHING! It just made me feel like I was transported into the game.
The most impressive visuals for me were at night, the neon lights and city in general just looked breath taking.
This is by far the best game to come out on the PS4 so far (not that there have been many) and I doubt much is going to overtake this for quite some time. I'm going to do at least two play-throughs of this game.
Have you played this game yet, hero or villain?
Amy x
