Fuelled by cheesy poofs, you’re the new kid in town just looking to make friends. Thrown in at the deep end, you meet Cartman and friends who are on a quest to take back the Stick of Truth from the Elves (Kyle and his friends). You know, because if you have the Stick of Truth you control the Universe….duh!
It's your job to go around town making new friends and forming alliances to defeat the elves and seize the Stick of Truth. However, you do meet some obstacles along the way - cue Nazi Zombies, Alien abduction and being grounded by Mum & Dad. Now, I don’t want to ruin this for you and give away too many spoilers, so I won’t go into any more detail about the storyline.
But what I can tell you is, the game is a fairly standard RPG, levelling up your character to unlock new skills and powers. The battles are turn-based, and the attacks are humorous. And staying true to the RPG form you have your story quests and your side quests. But don’t worry if you don’t complete all the side quests before you finish the story, you do get to go back and complete them after!
If you’re in Europe like me, and playing this on a console, you’ll witness a few censored parts of the game. Personally I don’t think this took away from the gameplay or storyline and there was enough of your typical South Park humour crammed in to make up for anything you feel you may have missed out on.
Timewise, I completed this game in about 12 hours (main story and a few side-quests) and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Overall, this is everything you would expect from a South Park game. Not overly challenging, but very very funny. Now to go and get that achievement for farting on 100 people…..
Oh, and before I forget, keep your eyes peeled for a lovely little trophy/achievement simply called ‘Heisenberg’
Will you be buying Stick of Truth? Or if not, what are you playing at the moment?
