In one word - Creeeeeeepy! I was fortunate enough to be one of the only people to play this game on console without playing the PC edition (I'd heard a little rumour it was coming to PS4 - so I resisted the Steam christmas sale).
I was expecting more from Sony as the first month of PS+ on PS4, but lets not get into that right now...

The game itself for anyone who hasn't played it is a survival game, your goal is the stay alive, don't starve and possibly find a few people on route. You are instantly thrown into a randomly generated world filled with various items you can use to build weapons, fires (when night times you need a form of light otherwise those creepy boogie men will get you!) and cook food. It is the kind of game you play a couple of times and get frustrated, want to turn off never turning back, however I found the more time you give the game will end up giving you little techniques which will help with your survival.

The first is the technique of the game is simply enough, eating. You might think this is easy but it's one of the main properties of the game people forget first hand, you're so worried about making weapons and exploring the world you forget to give your little dude a carrot every now and again.
The more you progress through the game the more equipment you can make, from animal traps to armor to top hats! It's always worth have a fashionable game character, right?
The second is to make sure you give yourself enough brain activity otherwise you start hallucinating and going a bat-shit crazy, so keep your health and food topped up, making sure you are involved in some sort of mind-boggling activity.
With health I found it stayed around for quite a while in the game for me - unless you are attacked by raining frogs (no seriously around, 50 frogs falling from the sky).

My technique was to make some armor first and then run head first into hoards of pigs/spiders/frogs/crazy evil bats and see how much edibles I could get from this!

Having not played the PC version I can't compare how well it runs with a controller - however it is safe to say that they have done a great job making this playable on the PS4. The controls are lovely and easy which means you can breeze through the various on-screen menus and you don't seem to run into the issue of forgetting what the buttons do. Visually I think it looks fantastic and it runs so smoothly, again I can't compare how it would run on a PC as it seems to be quite visually basic. If you do get the chance play the game with a decent head-set then please do it, as the music is eerily beautiful - I quite enjoyed watching my other-half play it and jump every now and again too!

Just a quick overview of how fun the game is as I know a few people played it once hated it and will never play it again! I command you to pick up your sexy PS4 controller and play for another hour or so!
And for those who have not yet ventured into the world of Don't Starve, I totally recommend it and let me know how many days you've survived!
