Firstly I just want to say this look at episode one is more of an overview rather than a review so there will be no spoilers - however the next reviews may contain some!
I knew I would love this game before I even opened the game - I love TellTales Walking Dead, every single bit of it, especially the styling of the game. Point and click 'mystery' games with a brilliant storyline have always been in my top 10 games, I grew up watching my Dad play Myst on our old computer.
Anyway back to the point - this game is based on well known fable stories. You play as the 'big bad wolf' known as Bigby and you are the 'sheriff' of the town Fabletown. Your job is to solve a killing spree going on around the town. It's pretty gruesome to be fair, but the dark tone of this game really entrances you and makes you quite emotionally involved. Maybe not as much as the Walking Dead games - but you have a lot more problem solving to do in this game, as well as more interaction which is always a bonus.
I don't really want to do into the episode details as much as I don't want to spoil it for you. But let's just say you have a alcoholic and chain smoking pig living with you (can't remember his name) whose house you previously blew down. So although the tone is pretty dark you still have the same backstories for each character.
In the first episode we meet the Woodchopper, a pale beauty called Snow, twins Dee and Dum, as well as a mystery woman 'Faith' - you work with Snow trying to solve a murder in the town leaving the big twist at the end of the episode setting up an investigation which is clearly going to take course over the entire season.
I personally will always purchase TellTales point and click games like these, especially after my childhood growing up on Broken Sword. And if you did love the Walking Dead you are going to adore this, so get buying now as episode two has just been realised!
My review of episode two will be fair more in-depth and looking into the story after than just pin-pointing the tone and style.
Have you played this yet, if so did you enjoy it?
Amy x
I haven't played this one yet, but it's definitely on my list. Kind of want to read the comics first, but apparently they aren't necessary to enjoying the game.
